欧州出張から帰国し、ようやく、この週末にエンジンのバルブスプリングを新品に交換しました。そして、さっそく、”慣らし”運転です。ただ無闇に走っても面白くないので、ちょうど、28日（日）に横浜・赤レンガ倉庫駐車場で行われていた「Volvo　P1800クラブ」のミーティングの顔を出すことにしました。やはり、このミーティングに参加するという黒ＡＭＡＺＯＮのＭさんと首都高速の「大井ＰＡ」で合流。早朝のベイブリッジを２台のＡＭＡＺＯＮを連ねて横浜まで快調に走りました。
生憎の曇り空で、猛烈に寒い真冬のような気候ながら、赤レンガ倉庫駐車場には、P1800、P1800ES（エステート）、それに、珍しいVolvo480（オランダのDAFとVolvoが提携して、1989年前後ほんの一年間日本でも販売されたVolvo初のFFターボモデル）、さらに、ＡＭＡＺＯＮ博士、
Ｎさんも赤ＡＭＡＺＯＮを並べていました。とにかく、肌を刺すような寒さなのですが、皆さん、
ボンネットを開けてVolvo談義に”熱中”。我々３台のＡＭＡＺＯＮも末席に並べさせていただき、記念撮影やら取材に来ていた自動車雑誌のインタビューなどを受けました。P1800は、流麗なスポーツクーペですが、ＡＭＡＺＯＮ同様に、年式によって、フロント周りのデザイン、リアサイド給油口の位置、リアピラーのアクセントエンブレムの有る無し、、、など、かなり変更が加えられていることが、ずらり並ぶと良く分かります。で、やはり1964年式を境に大きく変更が加えられているようです。また、居並ぶP1800の中には、ブリティッシュグリーンに丸ゼッケンをペイントしたクラシックカーレース仕様もあります。このオーナーの方は、改造して取り外したオリジナル部品などを並べ、気前良く「あげるから、持って行って、、、」。ＡＭＡＺＯＮ同様にレストアと部品調達に奔走するP1800オーナーが集まっていました。P1800とＡＭＡＺＯＮは同じエンジンながら、P1800はインジェクション仕様でＡＭＡＺＯＮのＳＵキャブとは異なりますが、一長一短。P1800オーナーの方は、ＡＭＡＺＯＮのＳＵキャブを眺めて「やはり、ＳＵキャブはカッコ良いね、、、」と、
ちょっと羨ましそうでした。

After returning from Europe, I had my .122 valve springs changed to a brand new set. Now I will start breaking in the engine. Just driving around did not seem like much fun, so I decided to participate in the Volvo P1800 club meeting in Yokohama Red Brick plaza. Mr M with his black Amazon was also partipating so we hooked up at the Ooi PA. We drove over Yokohama bay bridge to Yokohama. Under cloudy skies and freezing weather, various P1800, P1800ES, a rare Volvo 480, and Dr. Amazon's red Amazon gathered together. Everybody opened up their bonnets and became engrossed in the topic of Volvos. The 3 Amazons joined the crowd and became the target of interviews and photo sessions. Like the Amazon, the P1800 have very detailed differences like the design of the front end, the position of the rear side gasoline intake, the accent emblem on the rear pillar, etc. In particular, the MY1964 seems to be the year that the most changes were made. There was a british green P1800 with a car # painted on it. The owner was lining up the old parts from the car and offering them up for free. Just as the Amazon owners, there were plenty of P1800 owners looking for a bargain part. The P1800 has the same engine a the Amazon, but the Amzon has a SU cab. Some of the P1800 seemed to be envious of the Amazon SU Cab.

仕事でドイツ出張中です。日本は、小春日和のようですが、ここシュッツットガルトは、１１月から降り続いた雪で、ちょっと郊外に出ると一面の雪景色。気温は日中でも３度以下で、肌を刺す寒風が吹いています。今日は土曜日ということもあり、仕事も午前中で決着。ちょうど開催中のクラシックカーショーがあったので、覗いてみました。「ＲＥＴＲＯ　ＣＬＡＳＳＩＣＳ」というイベントなのですが、空港にも近い数多くの見本市を行う１０万平米という広大なメッセ会場に、クルマ大国ドイツならではの数多くのクラシックカーが、９つのホールでテーマ／カテゴリー別に展示されていました。全部を見るには時間が無く、ざっと見学したのですが、この中に、３２年目を迎えたという「Volvo　Club　Deutschland」というクラブがブースを構えていました。122ステーションワゴンと、PV444　Duet、1800Sを並べ、隣にはPV544も展示されていました。とくに122Sステーションワゴンは、私の「・122」AMAZONとまったく同じボディカラーで、とてもコンディションが良く、珍しくサイドウインドウ上部にバックミラーが装着されていました。また、会場には、数多くのショップが並び、日本では見られないほど多くの車種とバリエーションを揃えたピンバッチ屋さんにＡＭＡＺＯＮのピンバッチを発見。思わず購入してしまいました。あと一週間ほどヨーロッパでの仕事が続きますが、帰国すれば、「・122」AMAZONの新しいバルブスプリングも届いています。
一気にエンジンを仕上げ、慣らし運転へと入りたいと思っています。

I am in Germany on business. Japan was warming up towards spring but out here in Stuttgard, the town is covered with the snow that has been falling since November. The temperature stays below 3C even during the day and a cold wind kept blowing. As it was a Saturday today, we finished up our work during the morning. They were holding a classic car show so I decided to stop by. The event was called "Retro Classic" and was held within the messe facility covering 9 halls close to the airport. Unfortunately, I did not have enough time to see it all but checked into the booth by "Volvo Club Deutschland". The .122 station wagon, PV444, Duet, 1800S were all on display. The .122 station wagon was the same color as my .122 in good condition and had a back mirror on the side window. There were also a lot of vendors and I found a shop selling lots of pin badges and within there, a few Amazon badges. I was not able to resist the urge to buy them. In about one week, I will return to Tokyo where the new valve springs should be waiting for me. I plan to install them and start breaking the engine in.
